Her mastery of visual storytelling extends into project management, where she has successfully led the large-scale conservation photography initiative, the Illinois River Survey in 2010. Kim excels at harnessing artificial light while maintaining consistency with cinematography or natural light to authentically capture the essence of a scene, creating stunning imagery without the need for artificial lighting. Kim's strong sense of composition and framing effectively convey the tone and narrative of a film, while creating dynamic shots that communicate emotions and key moments. In 2010, Kim founded the Illinois River Survey to raise awareness about the river’s beauty and challenges. Kim gathered photographers for a three-day survey, collaborating with environmental groups, conservation agencies, filmmakers, and advocates to emphasize the need for its protection.The survey’s imagery became a traveling exhibition and the book The Illinois River Survey: A Visual Record, featuring contributions from esteemed authors and experts. This work serves as a lasting testament to the river’s history, significance, and the ongoing effort to preserve its resources.In 2017, Kim participated in the Oklahoma Department of Tourism's “Come See for Yourself” commercial campaign as the project's still photographer in a rigorous 10-day commercial shoot. In 2023, Kim worked as a still photographer for the critically acclaimed documentary Bad Press - winner of the 2023 Special Jury Award for Freedom of Expression at the Sundance Film Festival. Most recently, Kim worked as the project photographer for the compelling new 2025 book Oklahoma City Parks: A History.
